17Th Century Indo-Portuguese Ivory and Tortoiseshell Table Cabinet

A incredible 17th century Ivory and tortoiseshell table cabinet probably made in Gujarat Indian in the second quarter of the 17th century in the Sind Mughal style.

The cabinet has some of the best and most elaborate secret draw mechanisms ever seen on a box of this age and style, the cabinet was most probably made for a diamond merchant, one of the secret compartments was obviously used for holding gold sovereigns coins.

Condition : for its age the Cabinet is in fantastic order, few old Victorian repairs to the ivory.
