19Th Century Carpenters Sea Chest.

A rare 19th century Carpenters sea chest. A large painted pine case with simulated rosewood painted wood grain effect with simple coach lines and still retaining its original lock and key.

Inside painted on the lid of the trunk is a wonderful folk art painting of “The Eden Holmes dated 1875” below is a beautifully constructed tool chest made from fine mahogany, with a detachable bank of drawers which have brass wheels and runners on so the drawers move with ease when getting to the lower compartment.

The Eden Holme was a 3-mast barque with iron plate hull, built in Sunderland in 1875. It has the distinction of being the last commercial cargo ship which had a regular schedule between Tasmania and Britain.
